i thinking of purchasing current 13" classic macbook pro (without retina) replace current late-2008 macbook5,1.
thought since current cmbp model 4 years older mine, provide noticable improvement, after comparing specs starting think newer model offer modest improvements.
more experienced these things please give me opinion on major differences between 2 macbooks?
these specs seem equivalent:
- both have 13" screens resolution of 1280x800.
- both weigh 4.5 lbs.
- have 8 gb 1067 mhz ddr3b in 2008 mb, while/ cmbp takes 8 gb of 1600mhz ddr3 memory.
- can take same hds , ssds no difference in storage either.

following specs different:
cmbp has:
- 802.11n wi-fi wireless networking;4 ieee
- 802.11a/b/g compatible
- bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology
2008 mb has:
- integrated airport extreme 802.11a/b/g/draft-n (bcm4322 chipset)
- gigabit ethernet
- bluetooth 2.1 + edr
-
cmbp has intel hd graphics 4000, while 2008 mb has nvidia geforce 9400m 256 mb.
2008 mb has 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo (p8600).
cmbp has 2.5ghz dual-core intel core i5 processor 3mb l3 cache (3210m).
interpretation display same, , same cpu little faster. how noticeable, have no idea...
conclusion accurate?
how long willing wait buy new macbook? have 2012 (current) cmbp , it's fantastic. gpu decent upgrade on have now, , cpu more powerful. clock speed doesn't tell full story; newer intel cpus technologically more advanced on old core 2 duos.
said, if wait bit longer rmbps better equipped same price. have ssd in macbook already? give boost while.
