My macbookpro stopped recognizing my Seagate external hard drive

hello,



accidentally unplugged 2tb seagate external drive, , when pugged on, mac still recognizing it, however, when tried access contents, folders appeared empty, tried eject drive, icon on desktop gone, unplugged it, restarted mac, , did not recognize external drive. repeated stunt @ lest 3 times. thought drive ruined, got laptop runs ubuntu, , ubuntu recognizes , displays contents correctly, makes me think external drive fine. ideas on do? mean mac won't acknowledge drive @ all, otherwise think re-formatting. ideas, i'd appreciate it. thank you.
 

have tried different known drive can use make sure usb port still working?
