Tracking App

hi,

i've seen several tracking type apps whereby users can track friends, , other apps track route run on google maps.

want add small feature 1 of apps friends can send tracker invite, , can see friend on google maps until cancel tracking.

architecture behind building / designing function. should update db every 5 seconds friend's current location, , keep refreshing map can see new position every 5 seconds, or there better way achieve this.

in advance help.
 

assuming want scale: if every client reports location change every 5 seconds , polls other location change every fovr seconds going need lot of server side infastructure lot of horsepower, if alot of users.

sounds terrible idea. want clients report server when distance thresehold has been reached, trigger kind of push of new data other clients following them.

sounds trick problem needing alot of clever server side code scalable.

if have <20 users, suggested , fine! :)
