Google to Take on Apple in Health and Fitness Tracking with 'Google Fit'

just weeks after apple announced health app ios 8 , corresponding healthkit platform allowing developers , accessory manufacturers tie system, google apparently making similar announcement @ google i/o conference. according forbes, google's new "google fit" service perform similar function healthkit, aggregating data fitness trackers , apps in 1 place on user's device.
forbes says unclear whether google fit integrated android default or if handled through standalone app.

earlier year, google announced android wear project bring android wearable devices such smart watches, focus on health monitoring. result, forbes speculates google fit serve hub integrating data variety of android wear devices, other products tying platform.

apple's health feature received few minutes of stage time @ company's worldwide developers conference last week, although company have feature page on site previewing system. while health able tie variety of devices , apps developers build in support, apple's iwatch expected major focus platform. rumored launch later year around time ios 8 released public, iwatch reportedly feature number of biometric sensors monitor health , fitness. result, can expect hear more apple's health initiative when iwatch ready go.
