MacBook Pro display replacement ?

hello,

have 2011 macbook pro. wife accidentally spilled water on macbook pro, without knowing. sat water quite time, possibly 30 minutes hour b month ago, when dried off , waited few days, attempted power on, no avail. light on keyboard lit , mac didn't make noises, such mail notifications. seems sound card still works. turned macbook pro on again today, 1 month later , screen able come on, no backlight.

can move mouse open programs normal, again know backlight. have begun recent time machine in case computer not survive. wondering if screen replacement more serious such graphics card failure.

has had experience taking macbook pro apple @ genius bar screen replacement on similar or exact model? how did end paying? if had similar issue such water damage , video graphics card failure, options did give you? assume there none considering video graphics card soldered motherboard.

figure have 1 or 2 choices. first choice not use time machine up, , of pictures onto format pc can read. have buy windows 8 machine, cannot afford $2200 quite sometime. making plan transfer of pictures have backed on external hard drive pc. should clear out external hard drive of time machine format, , use different format up? suggestions.


other option, if macbook pro survive, possibly using external display keyboard , mouse?
