iPod 6th not recognised by iTunes

hi, having problem ipod 6th generation ...... when connect macbook pro itunes not recognise connected. mbp date software & itunes. older ipod recognised. have tried resets etc , ipod doesn't seem start power button , unable charge mains. battery ? easy replace ?
 

"not recognized itunes" doesn't seem issue. based on other info provided, that's symptom of larger issue: ipod doesn't work @ all.

have referred apple support document http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3474 ?

have tried reset while connected power?

how long have charged it? have tried different cable?

should embark on battery replacement on assumption problem? perhaps there's high probability of being right, it's not certain.

apple (and presumably other repair shops) battery replacement. price apple $59. full repair $65-$75, if turns out battery not cause, you're not out whole lot more money working ipod in hands.

can replace battery yourself? suggest checkout ifixit. while possible, it's not inexperienced. you'll need heat gun open case, , when battery, it's soldered.
