Low power GFX card for FCPX editing - AMD R9 270X?

hi all

upgraded mac pro 5.1 (flashed) system hex x5670 2.93ghz. see little improvements on quad 2.66ghz fcpx editing. have leadtek gtx 660ti 2gb , 20gb pc1333 ram. mac pro using ssd os , scratch disk.

thinking of switching amd r9 270x. seems have similar power consumption gtx 660 ti , i'm thinking may serve me better fcpx editing work.

know if amd r9 270x card can run on mac pro 5.1 out of box without firmware flashing? ok not having grey screen on bootup. if yes, brands? please share experience.

no response? take no 1 has tried or r9 270x not faster fcpx edits gtx 660 ti?

reason i'm asking fcpx feels bit sluggish when editing , rendering 720p footage. hoping feel faster experiencing.
