Any way to intentionally delay closed captioning?

for whatever reason, have hard time hearing (clearly) dialog sometimes, end turning closed captioning on - problem is, wife , seem end "reading" dialog, it's typically displayed before line delivered. know kinda weird, there way intentionally delay closed caption display (by second or two?), it's there in case missed something?
