Backing up old photos to iCloud

hi,

have very, old macbook on 10,000 pictures on it. unfortunately, it's old can't update iphoto newest version make compatible icloud.

i've transferred of photos pc , installed icloud on there. however, possible add these pictures icloud?when go photo stream , choose "add", none of these pictures transfer.

there way @ these old pics onto icloud?
