according link below, should able install , run full version of windows 8.1 pro (64-bits) on mid 2010 imac 27 using boot camp support software 5.1.5640.
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1721
when on date mavericks install, getting boot camp assistant partition ssd use main drive , allowing select , download support software, goes swimmingly until reboot after installing support software.
i've tried various things including:
1) updating windows install prior installing support software.
2) installing previous versions of support software (5.0.5033 , 4.0.4033)
i've flattened partition after each attempt , allowed boot camp assistant software create single os x partition before each new attempt.
problem see blue screen on reboot message kernel_security_check_failure.
wanted check if has working install of windows 8.1 pro (64-bit) on mid 2010 imac 27 model , if had special in process?
additional information. imac has 16gb of memory , ssd 250gb 150 gb free space prior creating windows partition i'm assigning 80gb. i'm using full length apple standard wired keyboard. i've disconnected imac apart keyboard , mouse during installation , trying make standard possible.
you need use boot camp 5.1.5621 2010 imac. downloading 5640 easy mistake make because apple doesn't list models are compatible version, models are not.
