2008 Macbook Pro Won't Boot - ram Issue?

hi,

have 2008 mbp beeps when turning on. tried different combinations of ram/slots:

ram a/ slot or
ram a/ slot b or
ram b/ slot or
ram b/ slot b or

machine boots if have single chip in, when put 2 in, boot sound followed beep , flashing led. have idea far what's wrong (hopefully not logic board).

most logic board. year has 8600gt know ticking time bomb. if ram slots magically turn out okay, gpu die , render computer useless regardless.
