Handoff Isn't Reason Enough To Upgrade ...

yea, i'm 1 of in "i don't have bluetooth ('bt') 4.0 / bt le" boat. have 2011 15" mbp set me $2,549 buy. perhaps irritates me most, not 3 years later have spend $2,599 virtually exact same laptop ... solely stupid bt upgrade.

cpu: have 2820qm (2.3ghz sandy bridge cpu) in 2011 mbp. equivalent 2.3ghz haswell offering apple in 2014 rmpb 4770te. real world performance improvement on "new" cpu measly 10% @ best:

ram: have 16gb, , comes standard 15" rmbp, no real world improvement here.

hard drive: have 480gb ocz ssd. cost me $250 buy aftermarket (still spent less in total 2014 rmpb, included in figure above). 2014 rmbp has 512gb ssd standard. don't count 32gb actual improvement in grand scheme of comparison, if following "~10% improvement" trend.

gpu: new rmbp takes lead in arena 750m, hands down. 1 caveat rmbp has more pixels drive relative performance isn't improved result:

other items: battery life - rmbp rated @ 8 hours versus 2011 mbp being rated @ 7 hours. yes, rmbp thinner, , has retina, lose cd drive, firewire, ethernet , upgradability.

apple isn't making compelling case users want upgrade machine costs few thousand dollars few years later. thankfully may lucky , able upgrade wireless , bluetooth card?

understand handoff isn't feature in yosemite, think it's safe ui changes aside, it's virtually everyday major change os x. gladly give apple money new laptop, if there reason upgrade, aside $15 bluetooth card :rolleyes:
 

who said need continuity? yosemite free update has other features well. heck don't have use it... @ people still rave sl '09 being os master race on here.

you'd sell old macbook if upgraded more $500. plus left out part going normal screen retina pretty big deal lot of people.

lastly presumably can buy bluetooth usb dongle $50. unless that's ungodly of sight have sticking out of glorious macbook.
