[Tutorial] Enable windows 8 support in bootcamp for an unsupported mac

hi,

trying install windows 8 on wives' mid 2010 13' macbook pro, , ran issues since mac not supported windows 8. have spent time trying find solution, didn't find wanted, thought i'd post of out if run same crap.

not know crashes or fails or why in general did make (and other) macs unsupported windows 8, @ own risk.

first of all, wanted perform bootable usb install on mac. first problem ran running mavericks. usb bootable installation unsupported here. this great tutorial helped me out issue resolved.

still cannot create bootable windows 8 usb.

(if follow tutorial above have backup of info.plist file, if don't have backup create 1 using first command in above tutorial.)

to enable win 8 support have go terminal , copy line:
code:
sudo nano /applications/utilities/boot\ camp\ assistant.app/contents/info.plist
go bottom of file , see key headed <key>win7onlymodels</key>. change 7 8 key name <key>win8onlymodels</key>. add mac version identifier list next other macs in same format. (i.e. <string>macbookpro7,1</string>) (you can find identifier going apple menu->about mac->more info->system report).

press control + x exit, press y save, press enter.

there go. have enabled windows 8 support mac not on list.

note: after performing these steps managed create bootable usb drive windows 8.1 , install windows 8.1 on mac used unsupported. hope saves time.

luck.

thanks posting.

mbp seems same 1 working on ( upgraded ram , ssd ), quite interesting me. using w7 pro, may not upgrade 8.n, maybe later release of windows.

far understand patched bootcamp support 5 , installed.

- when go windows device manager, see unsupported devices ?
- graphics working properly, wired lan, wifi & audio ? web cam ?
