A question on storage

hi all.

have upgraded imac , new machine has flash storage (512gb). want keep applications , essentials on ssd , store vlogs , other large files on external solution.

won't mind helping me find best solution :)

have stored on ssd , have lacie 3tb external hard drive attached time machine backups. have portable hard drive stored @ parents house bring home on occasion have copy of files elsewhere in case of flood etc.

question how add second external hard drive store videos away ssd, , backed existing hard drive performing time machine backups. backups store every attached in external hard drives, or stuff stored internally? if existing time machine won't store info on disk easiest way 1 up? keep copy of videos on drive kept elsewhere improve redundancy in same way have main backups?

not hot on storage solutions etc appreciated.

time machine default exclude external drive backups. open time machine prefs , in options section remove external excluded list , backed time machine.
