Must I go to an AT&T store to switch phones?

i got new 6+.

giving 5 partner using old 4s. doesn't care having latest phone he's happy getting hand-me-downs , works out.

6+ set , running.

restoring 5 , plan use last back-up bring on data.

question have visit at&t store put phone number on it? did last time i'm wondering if there's way @ home.
