"Replace battery now"-message

so few months i've gotten message "change battery soon" whenever click battery symbol in menu bar (or similar message, translated native language). says "change battery now".
how long have before it's dead? i'm dreading bringing mac store because know takes 2 weeks or more them change battery. plus high expence of it.
few weeks? few days? can still use after battery dead, right? (i know did old macbook. there battery bloated , removed battery , used power cord time. hassle, workable)

also, how know type of macbook pro is? besides year , date (which i'll find, hopefully, in email). unibody if there 1 solid piece of metal underneath , no separate cover battery?

in advance.

you can find version of laptop selecting :apple: > mac

it'll either tell "macbook pro (year of purchase)" (mavericks) or "macbook pro (number, sub number)" (pre-mavericks).

battery @ 'replace soon' stage, in 2011 macbook pro, , instead of taking apple store i'm going replace myself, because told take 2 weeks 5 minute job. replacing yourself, however, not option retina macbook pro, appears apple glue them in rather screw them in. :( bad mr ives!

how long it'll last... same amount of time said 'replace soon', less that. i'd start pricing replacements.
