Fast download speed but very slow browsing speed

hi everyone,

have 4 year old macbook white (a1181), tweaked new ram , ssd harddrive. however, browsing speed unbelievably slow. when download through transmission, app store, dropbox, internet-speed expected (10/10 connection), loading yahoo.com takes 25 seconds, , not able download chrome, because website not load. also, in app store, searching apps takes aaages, download apps @ 1mb/s speed.

i've checked activity monitor, there plenty of spare ram , cpu power. should said though, fan has become quite audible, although not in strange way.

causes? i've looked through tons of threads without finding answer.

appreciate can get, because im bewildered. quite frustrating upgrading old mac, , happens , pretty makes mac not useable.

what operating system have installed? safari on snow leopard becoming more , more buggy technology evolves. i'd stay away chrome, buggy browser irrespective osx version. if you're on snow leopard, try firefox or opera.
