Thinking about restoring my mac to its original factory settings

a long time ago thought macbook had mouse acceleration though didn't, put in console command terminal had retrieved internet supposed fix issue. little did know computer fine way , little command screwed up. tried several programs smoothmouse (which killed mouse accel made games unplayable because mouse spaz every time clicked fire gun around screen multiple times @ once) , more. irritating when not playing games, have struggle click damn want , feel i'm going throw computer wall thinking how irritating concept , purpose of mouse acceleration is.

apple's useless genius bar wouldn't have slightest clue mouse acceleration , difference between overall speed of mouse. coming conclusion of doing cmd+r trick while booting computer , resetting entire computer original factory settings came when had bought macbook, @ time had no problems mouse acceleration.

problem bought macbook pro (mid 2011) school purposes, got student package deal , bought microsoft word + powerpoint + excel it, think erased if restore entire computer. rest of files on here don't need/care about, of course don't want wipe away files spent 200 bucks when bought mac, not mention i'm still in school , need have it. moved since had bought mac, , i'm not sure microsoft office software went (the physical disks) i'm worried resetting entire computer.

guess have few concluding questions pretty made post for

1. "erasing hardrive , reinstalling fresh copy of os x" rid of mouse acceleration , accidental setting changes seem irreversible @ moment?

2. if risky restore entire computer, there chance genius bar possibly fix mouse acceleration problem? main issue installed software supposed tweak mouse accel settings screwed more, , while 1 software may claim mouse accel gone may not gone due script run else tweaked earlier. can see not tech wiz , have no idea hell i'm doing.

3. there programs out there still may able fix acceleration issue? every time make change due little test see if mouse accel gone putting cursor @ point in screen, moving mouse point on pad to right, , 2x fast left , see if cursor originally. time had seen mouseaccel killed backup proof test using smoothmouse, makes gaming unplayable because of weird spazzing glitch causes gunman spaz sights opposite poles of screen if click rapidly in different locations, or hold down mouse button. issue evident in valve games, , off-game shows no spazzing of cursor if click rapidly.

guys , please read through carefully. said i'm not tech wiz , getting me complex stuff useless because i'll end screwing more. sorry possible confusion in post.

 

1. if mouse acceleration messed software installed, yes erase , reinstall fix it.

2. have tried resetting mouse settings default deleting mouse plist preference file?

open finder click go menu go folder , paste in , enter. scroll down file com.apple.driver.applehidmouse.plist , delete restart. should default mouse settings.

if still think have scraps of mouse acceleration software on there, trying running this utility show startup or launch items might still around.

thing try go users , groups in system prefs , make new admin account , login there , see if helps.

happen different mice or one?
