Suddenly can't access >Settings

5c,1 year, great phone, never glitch.

updated ios8 24 hrs ago. tweaked settings needed. fine accessed >settings icon , unfamiliar screen popped unfamiliar 'authenticate' prompt. scrolling it, screen defaulted impenetrable plain grey screen below , that's can get.
