hi everybody
i've been waiting , waiting buy 13" retina macbook pro 128gb , 256gb option small.
can't afford on $1800 500gb model... have manufactures stood making pcie-based flash storage yet.

thank you
if you've checked owc's website see far have not released pcie based ssd these macs.
whilst industry moving towards pcie ssd sticks notebooks , desktop motherboards include m.2 slots kind of pcie ssd slot there problem.
apples connector ssd sticks use appears custom. due not being slot compatible industry standard limits market.
on top of there unknowns public. although apples connector different cannot assume electrically same industry standard pins rearranged in different configuration.
may case apples implementation uses different voltages , may have less or more pins. if case make pcie ssd sticks incompatible chipsets available on market requiring custom silicon apple compatible stick.
different previous sata stick used in 2012 retina macbook pro's voltage compatible industry standard , same sata chipsets used connector needing of pins re-arranged.
in post linked to, owc showed off prototype in january 2014. june 2014 , has not gone in production. believe compatible stick if apple doesn't change setup again next model.
there big issue, may move away ahci nvme new specification communicating flash memory. industry moving ahci nvme because offers greater performance solid state storage access. if apple moves technology cause headache 3rd party ssd manufacturers because need offer ssd sticks 2012 mbp's 2013 mbp's , 2014-2015 mbp's require nvme ssd's.
further fragmentation harm 3rd party apple ssd market as moving proprietary pcie connector has.
in closing, save , buy amount of ssd storage need. future 3rd party replacements uncertain.
