5k Prores 422 in Quicktime

i purchased mac pro, 6core, 16gb of ram, d700 gpus.
using 5k video editing, , noticed when play quicktime clip 5k, in apple pro res 422, struggle, in skip frames , chop frame rate.
it's strange because vlc play fine, , inside fcp x no problem, runs raw r3d files @ half res.
macbook pro has no problem running pro res in quicktime, issue quicktime software , gpu in nmp?
if has nmp , 4k or 5k apple prores 422 footage running @ 23.98 fps, tell me if same results?
