Can't change my external hard drive's icon

i know how change icon , have done many times before. time made small misstep (dragging picture icon "get info" page instead of copying , pasting usual). icon jacked up. picture still default icon has black background , small white pixels scattered around. tried using command x erase default , pasting desired picture ended pasting same jacked out icon, no matter image use. how can fix this?
 

try selecting icon in "get infos" page, , hit cmd + delete key.
