Reliability of old iMacs?

i have modern windows laptop serves me fine do, have eye on old imac core 2 duo, 3gb ram, 2.13ghz second machine , kids use macs @ school, can bought around £150 these days cheap chips really. wondering how reliable these old macs be? if serves me couple of years i'd happy enough.
 

generally reliable remember 8 years old, parts fail moving parts such hard drives, dvd drives etc. i'd stay away computer old, has extremely limited use. if trying save money buy either apple refurbished model or places such owc (www.macsales.com) sell used macs have @ least warranty.
