Mac Pro 4,1 nvidia 660 NO BOOT OS

i received mac pro 4,1 8core ebay.

came ati hd 4870 512 mb gpu. bought evga gtx 660 oc 2gb.

when unboxed mac today installed straight away 660 , booted , worked fine. mac pro loaded 10.8 os , upgraded 10.9. when installed 10.9 when first restarted never booted.

issue here? when on 10.8 of course did not have boot screen when upgraded never loaded os.

appreciate help

did try put original video card , give try?
