Already on AT&T Next - how to preorder?

here's question i'm surprised no 1 has asked already:

if i'm on at&t next plan , have met upgrade eligibility requirements (trade in current phone , renew next plan), how preorder new iphone 6?

"trade in" piece part that's throwing me off.
 

unless have phone paid off, can't. if have balance due, you'll have wait until 19th. if willing go at&t store , hand them phone freeing account of current next contract, you'll able to. (maybe have old phone lying around can use week or two?)
