My iPhones feel slow - memory issue?

compared parent's iphone 5, iphone 5 felt sluggish switching between apps , text messages. upgraded iphone 6 , felt sluggish. parents phones snappy.

downloaded "battery doctor" , said memory 83% full. ran "boost" , went down 30% , phone felt fast... although temporarily. after ran again few minutes later, @ 83%.

restored phone icloud backup willing set phone new if fix problem... don't know how make sure save of contacts , them on phone?

other ideas why using memory? have done following:

1. deleted text messages
2. deleted camera roll
3. cleared cache
4. closed apps running in background

help!
 

restore factory setting. sign icloud contacts since important thing. manually download apps.
