Mac mini with noisy Fusion Drive

the fusion drive in mac mini has been making whirring, ticking noise. used run silently, sounds drive working overtime. understand fusion drive moves files , forth in background, seems pretty excessive. other fusion equipped mini users, or imac fusion drive users have problem?
 

first -- everything, now! lot of ticking noise associated failing hard drive.

second, use disk utility verify drive starting point diagnosis.
