Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger DVD to CD

so have imac g3 running mac os 9.1
want update 10.4 tiger problem tiger install disk dvd , imac g3 whereas has cd drive
here options have
have 4 blank cd's lying around if try copy dvd files cd work? possible too???
, have external usb dvd drive want hook g3 not sure if it'll work question
please want fast answers cuz serious
 

use external dvd drive have. should work fabulously.
