Resolved System Sounds Not Working (Huge Issue)

on iphone 4s running ios 7.1.2, running super-problematic issue: system sounds (ringtones, text tones, lock/keyboard, etc.) aren't working. ringer @ 100%, , not on silent, none of these sounds working. extremely big issue me.

strangely, vibrations still work, , alarms go off without hitch.

edit: when headphones plugged in, sounds go through headphones no problems whatsoever.

can me serious issue?
 

did fix this? think girlfriends 4s doing this, although not sure if it's related 7.1.2 or happening before.
