Do you normally partition your Mac?

hello guys me again, yep new macbook pro , asking lot of questions ! :d

came windows background first thing ever did new laptop partition hard drive can keep data safe when installing new windows latter on, , keep them away windows files , them private , secure , stuff.

i'm wondring if same deal mac ? guys partition ? , installing new os on mac pain windows , risk losing data ? i'm not guy won't doing before upgrading os, don't having copies of private data ! takes lot of time.. tell me more experience regarding this.

!

since years have been creating "users" partition in way new
users @ /volume/users/xxx, instead of /users/xxx.

way, not have migrate when update osx release.
can boot external drive, update osx , re-create user account correct path.

try limit /applications folder apps store , apps have installer. means have reinstall apps store after setup new mac.

stuff firefox, chrome or other apps located inside applications folder in home directory, i.e:

/users/xxx/applications/firefox.app

can update these without being administrator.

have choose if want follow approach.
takes little knowledge modifying user account , knowing apps better left in /applications
