Early upgrade or off contract?

my upgrade isn't until oct 22. if buy 6+ 128gb, run $750 + $90 in taxes, , $40 upgrade fee att. $880.

950 + $100 in taxes, can phone off contract, , use upgrade second phone @ regular price , either:
a) selling (clearly more paid though).
b) 6 alternate if want smaller screen size.
c) great gift 1 special person during christmas season.
d) use upgrade on possible 6s next year

reason considering because ive been wanting large iphone years now, , coming friday, im want 1 asap. spending $250 makes me feel uncomfortable upgrade. figure buy full price @ value, , can use subsidized upgrade price on phone or 6s.
