iPad Air and iPhone 5s slowness

in past few days, both devices have had moments of extreme slowness, freeze, after several seconds proceed normally. it's @ random times, thing in common both devices doing it.

both devices have ample free space (57 gigs out of 128 , 10 out of 64) , are, not old. they're running latest versions of ios 7.

find odd both devices doing this. else experiencing this? ideas on happening?

do have icloud backup on? occurring on wifi only? check settings , turn icloud backup off if on.
