Resolved Dumb question: How to host a server for Apple app?

familiar java programming, never hosted server before though... don't know start. can point me in right direction on how host , can take care of rest.

also, i'm learning how use xcode. have xcode 6 beta , os x server on computer. os x server seems easy use can't seem figure out how make "communicate" clients (apps)?

 

you have write own server or use web server responds json or xml in order communicate own apps. whether write own server or use web server depends lot on type of data you'll sending , receiving.

instance if wanted game server you'd want write custom server (in whatever server side language prefer) , have communicate app on udp in order ensure low latency. on other hand if app shows information gets other sources having web server return json or xml work fine , easier manage.

non of stuff though built mac os x server need configure / write yourself. in fact ditch mac os x server entirely , use linux instead. way can host server on linode provides vps instances on demand.

never host servers @ home address if care about. use professionally hosted hosting in decent datacentre number of reasons should obvious you.
