Is it okay to run off the power adaptor whenever I'm at home?

i've been running mbp off power adaptor while @ home, i'm curious how affects battery. more energy efficient run off power adaptor or use battery?
 

it's fine that. should run off of battery @ least once month or battery's health may start decline.
