microsoft ceo satya nadella has confirmed company amalgamate major versions of windows 1 operating system. speaking on company's quarterly earnings call today, nadella told analysts microsoft "streamline next version of windows 3 operating systems 1 single converged operating system." describing implications of change, nadella said "this means 1 operating system covers screen sizes."

previously, under management of steve ballmer, microsoft had multiple teams producing different versions of windows working separately each other. "now," nadella said, "we have 1 team common architecture." microsoft boss didn't clarify how windows, windows phone, , xbox unified, noted benefit users , developers — while microsoft still sell different editions of windows, new unified platform allow creation of universal windows apps work across devices running os.
