Yosemite on iMac - Stuck on "2 minutes" over night

i tried updating yosemite on seemingly healthy '09 imac. install has been stuck on circle 2 minutes left overnight. read post saying go eventually, on night seems it's doomed.

best way proceed here?
 

if happens, move cursor top of screen until menu bar appears.

in 1 of menus, show installer log...choose this.

on left hand side of screen pops select errors , progress.

check out last entry is....i once had apple installer hang on update, reason opening installer log set free. not sure why.
