OS X Civ 5 retina resolution - all text/artwork pixelated

using latest version on steam. hdpi resolutions there , i'm on them. in game assets crisp menu/overlay/text pixelated. enough make distracting. i've searched net not found actual solution. ideas?
 

are on default resolution on desktop? this website suggests changing desktop higher scaled resolution before starting game.
