Does notification sync works well with iOS 8?

hello. apple introduced notification sync ios 7 release.

however, have mba latest os x mavericks version, ipad air , iphone 5s ios 7.1.2 , example if read new email stock mail app, doesn't mark read on other devices. never worked me ios 7. annoying because if email, need unlock , open mail app on every device marked read emails.
tried if working ios 8 beta?

sync mail depends on whether using pop or imap protocols.

imap sync mails , status (read, deleted) between devices.

check on mba, ipad , iphone if using pop or imap.

on mac os x : mail / preferences / accounts

on ios : settings / mail, contacts, calendar / accounts
