iPad iPad WiFi Performance Question

this question both ipad air , iphone 5 , later.

ipad air website talks how ipad uses multiple antennas have wi-fi speeds twice fast previous generation. also, starting iphone 5, apple advertised faster wi-fi performance previous models.

mean these devices can levarge faster networks, or mean these devices run faster predecessors on same network?

example. have iphone 4s , ipad 3. 1 of grips ipad slow web browsing. realize processors play part here, wonder if better antennas help.

have 11 mbp/s wifi @ home. if ran ipad air or iphone 5s alongside current devices web browsing faster discounting processor differences?

it's ipad 3 processor that's slow when rendering webpages. ipad 4 noticeable upgrade. given both ipad 4 , air faster 3 @ rendering webpages @ 8-10mbps lte, i'd should quite upgrade 11mbps wifi. haven't used iphone 4s web browsing in quite while can't comment on that.
