Broken cable or HDD

hello,

have dual setup ssd + hdd. hdd placed in optibay on place optical drive once was.

thought hdd broken because of little ticking noise , disk utility says smart status: foult.

bought new hdd, cloned , replaced it. mac booted weird , slow. disk utility said new hdd needs restored.

switcht old hdd again , connected new hdd sata usb cable , ran check on disk, there isn't problem.

cable broken or did wrong when cloning it?

sounds have bad drive cable in there. common problem. can order them online few bucks.
