MacBook Air (maxed out) vs rMBP (15-inch base model)

i own maxed out 13-inch macbook air mid 2012 - , thinking of 'upgrading' 15-inch late 2013 rmbp (base model).

use machine photoshop, illustrator , light after effects - hooked thunderbolt display.

there (noticable) difference in performance when using above mentioned programs, if switch 15-inch rmbp (base model)?

love the form factor of air. retina screen 'nice have' not important me moment.

thoughts?

 

if have enough ram, i'm doubting see $1500 difference in upgrading. new 13 air have seems handle throw @ it, although haven't tried adobe stuff. recall huge boost got when got imac 4 years ago after mbp died, don't know how of desktop parts vs, 4 years of advances. i'm guessing handbrake , imovie encodes slower due lower powered cpu, @ rate? apps take advantage of 4 cores?

consider battery life , weight. cannot tell how lighter mba windows notebook have. don't think ipad , mba weigh as did. can take full computer anywhere 10 hours of battery. mba isn't bad, it's not light.
