Increasing performance for late 2011 MacBook Pro

hello,
have late 2011 macbook pro 13'inch. haven't changed since bought it.

2.4 ghz intel core i5 4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3 ram. have 102 gb of 500 gb remaining on hd (stock). have run current version of mavericks since released.

performance has been solid, few months ago, started slipping. getting lot of beach balls. takes longer start up. , have force quit more like. these things i'm not accustomed mac product.

there cost efficient changes can make prolong life of mac? make more sense increase ram? or hard drive? sshd out of price range now. i've heard hybrid drives may increase performance. i'm open suggestions.

far usage, internet browse. consume media, , use music production software such fruity loops , serato dj (i notice performance issues in serato lot. know greedy memory; crashes more used when used scratch live on older macs). use safari primary browser, have chrome installed. itunes main media player, use vlc unsupported formats. have apple tv (if matters). there can change manner in use mac help?

taking time read this.

ssd transform it.

sounds you'd benefit more ram too.
