Visionary Apple approaches to Mac OS X: past, present and future

yosemite, date, sense apple no longer has single, clear, shared vision os x.
there may multiple visionaries, , each personal vision may awesome, sum of visions – mash, if – lacks coherence , taste have become accustomed past releases of operating system.

there's sense of constancy. appearances may change continue enjoy, in mavericks, many of features added either:code:sh-3.2$ sw_vers productname: mac os x productversion: 10.9.5 buildversion: 13f14
- in mac os era; or
- before mac os x became familiarly known os x.
many mac users, these features relevant years ago. if benefited using proxy icons in 1998, continue benefit in mavericks. , on.

in parallel constancy: sense of using visionary operating system. product of the clear vision of 1 person, or vision without ownership clear , shared.

apple's 2000 demonstration of single window mode. implementation criticised john siracusa (discussion) , others, vision great enough steve jobs make part of showcase world.
fourteen years later:none of strikes me weird. it's not single window mode name, it's single window mode by nature, , it's not detrimental other modes of working. it's highly complementary.
