with mavericks, apple made switch smb2, promising faster file transfers , better connectivity windows shared drives. proved absolute disaster, , smb2 still not work intended.
has noticed progress on front in yosemite? users still need change default connection method smb1 in order connect windows shared drives?
ive found apple's samba implementation flakey ever since abandoned open source samba , developed own lion (or sl?). both windows , linux clients have had problems connecting os x apple's samba, particularly if shares on non-hfs drives. ever since lion ive turned off apple's , installed samba macports or homebrew , still day yosemite. fair ive not tested yosemite's samba see if they've fixed it.
