rMBP choppy UI

hello, i've received 2014 rmbp - amazing machine! perfect, , don't mean pick holes, there fix laggy ui when using 3 standard hidpi resolutions? not horrendous, prime example scrolling down inbox on gmail website. stutters quite bit @ best retina setting. however, when select actual 1440x900 non-hidpi resolution using switchresx (which looks bad), lag gone in such examples, , whole ui feels noticeably snappier. possible apple release software fix this, or down iris graphics being underpowered retina resolutions? would've thought these gpus able handle it? looking advice :)
