iPad mini 2012 vs Nexus 7 2013

hey there,

i'm planning gift girlfriend tablet - , need decide between ipad mini , nexus 7 2013. they're both costing me same amount ($250). want go ipad following reasons:

- build amazing. premium feel great.
- girlfriend isn't techie/geek. she's not going need customisation options on android. in fact, ipad pretty going simpler , better experience her.

but

- specs aren't nice. nexus 7 runs on 2 gb of ram vs ipad mini's 512 mb. know apple optimizes ios , won't lag. 1-2 years future - won't ipad mini show signs of obsoleteness faster nexus 7?

- want ipad mini, want last amount of time. i'm on upper limit of budget here can't switch better ipad.

should still go mini, or nexus 7 better choice?
 

if had choose n7 long mile. has better screen , better hardware. bought brand new discounted 2012 mini , returned it. screen awful @ $199. if rmini $199 pick on n7.
