Is it true that if you set your external hard drive to exFAT, it will fail frequently

i heard if format external hdd exfat use both windows , mac, fail early, it's best choose formatting either windows or mac , use sort of software lets read files different os.

eh, no. it's interesting position exfat, false - unless have link details testing on exfat, other anecdotal report.

windows won't see mac-formatted partition, if prefer have drive formatted mac, - on windows system - need install macdrive.

if prefer have drive formatted windows (ntfs), then, on mac, need install software provides read & write drivers ntfs, such tuxera - http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/
there free version (ntfs-3g), i'm not sure how supports newer os x versions - plus it's slower commercial tuxera ntfs mac.
