Which usb 3.0 personal cloud do you recommend / use?

here thing:

have external usb 3.0 harddisk drive use backups , time machine.

partner has apple configuration doesn't backups (yet).

want use external harddrive our family cloud storage device, accessible everywhere, easy browse , share files each other. idea both of use hd time machine solution.

looking @ pogoplugs office solution (for 5 users) there other solutions use? must have 1 or 2 usb 3.0 ports.

think real nas overkill...

thanks!

the airport timecapsule allows backups take place on internet enabling "backtomymac" vpn function on it. can add multiple appleids backtomymac , if have download speed @ home (80mbps+) work quite well. i've tried , unless have upload speed on public wifi or other remote location, actual backup process can slow 100mb or - seems take particularly long time mount time machine "sparsebundle" file.

if want carry on using usb hard drive, plug airport extreme , same above, unfortunately apple haven't updated airport base stations support usb3.0 yet there bottleneck there (60mbyte/s theortical; 50mbyte/s actual), although internet connection sure bigger bottleneck (10mbyte/s 80mbps download) plus afp , tcp overhead/window-size-increase each file transfer.

hope helps bit
