hi all brand new mbp taking ages connect internet when in living room not in study (where router is). 2 things odd this: 1. connected wifi, i.e. bars of wifi symbol black, indicating strong signal. problem that, using chrome (and safari), when enter web address, hangs ages eventually, after 5-10 minutes, connects, , thereafter things tend fine. 2. old dell laptop connects more quickly; don't have same problem it. seems not find wifi signal access websites more or less immediately. on 1 hand, given happens when in living room, distance router, think problem wifi signal weak. in case, i'd happy buy new router or signal booster. on other hand, both 1 , 2 call diagnosis question. i'm confused! advice or appreciated. thanks d   i have found same mid 2014 rmbp. @ first thought router, mentioned, other devices connect fine. mine randomly goes off or ...

hi all, (possibly since 10.9.3 or 10.9.4) i've been having issue rmbp where, if turn on external monitor attached (via mini displayport, record), makes apple chime, starts loading, screen goes black , starts on message having restart due error. loop few times before giving , shutting off entirely. "solution" far has been boot monitor unplugged, plug in after... except doesn't work either. 50% of time, in last week or so, doing causes external monitor not have work @ all. have reset computer couple of times every time turn on lately, becoming pain. appreciated. i've tried resetting smc no avail, though i'm not positive did right. held shift, control, , option , power button released them simultaneously, magsafe light did not flicker or change states, told indicates worked. i'm not sure if happens, though.   boot hardware test.
